Tips For Your Safe Indoor Tanning

It is possible to tan safely indoors, even though there is still some controversy about it. As long as you limit your exposure to the UV rays and follow other guidelines it can be a very enjoyable experience for you. It is also going to be more convenient than outdoor tanning. Many people find this process improves their mood and makes them feel better about themselves.

The most dangerous part of indoor tanning stems from the UV rays in the bulbs. They will allow you to get the same results as you do from the sun but in less time. If you burn in the sun after 30 minutes then you don't want to tan indoors for more than 10 minutes per session. Allowing yourself to get sunburned will increase your risk of being diagnosed with skin cancer later on.

Pay close attention to how your body reacts to an indoor session. There will be an emergency shut off on each piece of equipment. Make sure you know where it is. Should you feel light headed, nauseated, ore extremely hot while tanning you should access that safety button immediately.

While there is no research to indicate that tanning while pregnant is harmful to the fetus, you need to be very careful. Most doctors will tell you to avoid indoor tans for the duration of your pregnancy. This is just to make sure you aren't going to end up harming yourself or the unborn baby in any way.

You should also talk to your doctor if you take any type of prescription medications. Some of them require you to limit your exposure to the sunlight. This means an indoor facility should also be avoided. You don't want your overall health to suffer just so you can add some color to your skin.

All indoor facilities should be wiping down the tan areas with a cleaning solution after each person has used it. If you don't think this has been done prior to entering the tan area, ask to speak to the manager. Since many people tan indoors naked, you don't want to compromise your own hygiene.

Make sure you wear eye protection that fits well. The UV rays from indoor tanning bulbs can cause damage to your eyes over time. If you use such facilities on a regular basis, you should invest in your own. That way you can be sure they offer you the protection you need.

You definitely need to get your body prepared for tanning if there is any significant difference between the outdoor temperature and they indoor temperature. Too much of a change will create some problems for your body that can result in you not feeling to well. When this is the case, try to get to the tanning salon early. Allow your body to get used to the indoor temperature before you tan. You will also want to give your body time to adjust to the temperature in the lobby before you return outside to your vehicle.
