Gout Pain - Is There Any Cure

I hear your silent, or maybe not so silent, plea as your foot is the all consuming thought you have at this time. Your big toe has, without warning, suddenly become a huge, inflamed and throbbing member on your foot. Why me? Why now? There has been no respite since it began in the early hours of the morning. Walking on hot coals would be preferable at this time. It is impossible to put ice on it, which you think would help, but even sitting absolutely still seems to cause further pain. Covered or uncovered it makes no difference. The sight of this ugly appendage on your foot is unbearable. Will it ever be the same again; is there a cure for gout pain or will I have to endure this for life?

You do not wish to take a medical degree you only want to know how to cure gout pain. At the same time you do this you need to learn more about this complaint which has caused such a violent trauma in your life at this time and without warning.

Gout is recognised as one of the most painful medical conditions, second only to childbirth. As you are more likely to be a man suffering from gout you may say it is unfair as you can choose not to have a child and not suffer childbirth pain, but you were not given this choice now. Gout dates back as far as 400 BC and it was recorded by Hippocrates and known then as an affliction experienced by fat old men as the result of high living and known as the 'disease of kings'. Today it is still associated with too much stilton and port consumed after a rich meal on a regular basis. There is a slight element of truth in this. Gout is usually experienced by men over 40 who are overweight with a taste for rich food high in protein together with a fairly high intake of alcohol. There are a few women who suffer from this condition but it is fairly rare and usually applies to post-menopausal women. It is almost unheard of in younger people, especially children.

Do you recognise yourself? Then read on; to learn to cure gout pain you need to know what causes this unbelievable pain and distress. In around 10% of sufferers there is a family history of the condition. This does not mean you throw your hands up in the air and say that is it, you are doomed. If you know there is a history in your family and you know what causes it then you are well on the way to learning how to stop gout pain and manage the condition in a competent manner.

So now you are feeling insulted. If you know you are overweight, don't like too much exercise, have a stressful family or job situation and drink too much you are a prime contender for a bout of gout. You know if you fit these criteria and if so, then there is more you can do than you think to stop gout pain, not just for now but in the future.
