Affirmation for Worry

Anxiety is something that we have felt since the beginning of time. In fact, a little anxiety was great back in the caveman days because it made sure that we stayed away from the big saber tooth tigers that threatened to eat us; they could have used an affirmation for worry. Anxiety also made us aware of what was happening around us and kept many of us in a survival mode.

As we evolved, we found that anxiety could be two edged sword -- on the one hand it was great for keeping us out of trouble, but on the other hand, just like anything else too much of a good thing made us crazy. Today, there is a larger portion of our society who live in anxiety on a daily basis and some use affirmation for worry.

Many people turn to affirmation for worry to try and stop. Using affirmation for worry like "Today I will not worry" or "It is safe for me to release worry" may help some people but for others they aren't that appealing.

The challenge with affirmations is they have to come from within you and you must make them up yourself. When you are already worrying about something, it doesn't make a lot of sense to have an affirmation.

The good news is there are several books that can help you find affirmation for worry that you can actually modify to meet your needs. Here are two that might help:

What If: Daily Thoughts for Those Who Worry Too Much by A.J. Chevalier. The reviews for this book are very positive and they help you by giving an affirmation for worry everyday. The book guides you through taking affirmation for worry and moving them into a positive point of action.

Chevalier is a therapist by trade and he gives affirmation for worry to many of his clients. Now he has a way to get more information out to more people.

The Worry Cure: Seven Steps to Stop Worry from Stopping You, by Robert Leahy. This book holds the idea that worry is something that helps and protects those of us who worry a lot. This seems like more of a therapy book but it seems like fun at the same time. Within the seven steps he teaches how to establish a worry profile, and then leads you through how to get rid of the worry.

Check out these two books and let us know what you think, or let me know what your favorite affirmations are so we can share them.
