Make sure your mealtime is free from stress or too many distractions.
Chew each mouthful of food at least 50 times.
Eat smaller meals so that your stomach will release smaller amounts of acid to deal with digestion.
Test your food to determine which to avoid. What food triggers off a violent reflux acid response? The foods, which give you an instant heartburn, are to be avoided.
Cut back on eating many dissimilar foods at the same time, for example, never eat fruits with other foods. Save it for a solo meal like breakfast.
Cut down on the eating of processed foods, they can cause food allergies that inflame the stomach and produce excess acids causing heartburn.
Avoid foods with MSG-Monosodium Glutamate. This improves the taste of your foods but is also an irritant to your stomach. MSG and related food additives can destroy the nerve cells in the retina or back of the eyeball and affect adversely certain brain functions. Fortunately, not everyone is vulnerable, but there is no test that can reveal who is.
Eliminate fake sugars. The generic name Aspartane goes under the names of Equal or Nutra-Sweet. It is hidden in products labeled "containing no sugar", "lite", "low in calories" or "dietetic".
Avoid foods that slow down the digestive system causing acid to accumulate over the long period of time it takes to digest these foods. Avoid especially fried foods or fatty foods.
Do not lie down until about 3 hours after eating a meal. Some people eat too late and then slink into their beds too quickly to satisfy the drowsiness because the brain usually tires after a large meal.
The relief for heartburn is no magic bullet, but it is the number of actions, which you must have the discipline to undertake. Knowing what to do is just part of the solution, taking decisive and sustained action is the other part. Putting the two together is the challenge. Many of us know what we should do to maintain a healthy body and mind but because of bad habits we continue down the slippery slopes to ill health and premature death.
The journey to be heartburn free is yours to take. Only you could will decide the route you must take. However, you will sometimes find people along the way who are willing to point you in the right direction.
In closing, I wish you No More Pain.
